History

asta_del_barbera_6The Consortium for the defense of typical wines Barbera d’Asti and Freisa d’Asti was founded on 1946 by 7 wineries to guarantee the genuineness and the distribution of these wines both on the italian and foreign markets by means of distinguishing marks

The costant support offered to the associated wineries, together with the powers assigned to it by the law, over the years allowed the Consortium, now renamed Consortium of the Barbera d’Asti and of the Monferrato wines, to significantly contribute to the development of the whole territory where it operates.

Today the Consortium of the Barbera d’Asti and of the Monferrato wines has more than two hundred associated wineries and is the reference point of a production chain that every day operates to preserve its environment and to raise the quality of its products.
